The condition is called Ductal Carcinoma in situ, and it is often considered stage zero of breast cancer. This type of cancer starts in milk ducts and doesn't spread to the surrounding tissue. Nearly 20% non-invasive breast cancer patients develop life-threatening invasive breast cancer. It is the reason why doctors emphasize on regular breast cancer screenings.
